Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur saw off interest from Manchester City and several other sides to hang on to young starlets, Mikey Moore and Callum Olusesi.
There is a lot of excitement at Hotspur Way about the current crop of Under-21 players at the club, with the likes of Ashley Phillips, Alfie Devine, Dane Scarlett, Jamie Donley, Will Lankshear, Jude Soonsup-Bell Alfie Dorrington and others being quite highly thought of.
However, there are also a couple of other really exciting talents in the age group below, namely Moore and Olusesi.
Moore has been on fire in the Under-18 Premier League this season, with 12 goals and seven assists in 10 league games so far (Transfermarkt) and the versatile attacker was even named by The Guardian as one of the 20 best young talents across the country.
16-year-old Olusesi, who is a box-to-box midfielder by trade, has also turned quite a few heads with his displays for Tottenham’s Under-18s, with five goals and four assists to his name in 11 matches (Transfermarkt).

Manchester City were looking at Mikey Moore and Callum Olusesi
Gold has revealed that there was quite a bit of interest in the pair’s services last summer but Spurs successfully convinced them to remain at the club.
The journalist told the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “You’ve got Mikey Moore, who is a real incredible talent. Callum Olusesi, as well. Both Moore and Olusesi they convinced to stay at Spurs. Many, many top clubs, I think the likes of Man City were looking to get them and teams like that.”

With Ange now in charge, Tottenham will perhaps find it easier to make the case to the best young talent in their academy that there is a realistic pathway to the first team at the club. That would have been a challenge under the likes of Conte and Mourinho, who evidently preferred experienced players to young ones.
