Alasdair Gold tips nine players for potential Spurs exit in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur currently have 13 players out on loan until the end of the season, and only four of them may have a future at the club. That’s according to Alasdair Gold, who offers a rundown on the futures of all of Spurs’ loanees right now.

It’s pretty clear that Ange Postecoglou knows what he wants from his players at Tottenham. With an unrelenting approach to football and high expectations when it comes to attitude and behaviours off the pitch, too, some players just do not cut the mustard anymore.

Many of those players are out on loan this season, looking to find a new home or at the very least, prove themselves worthy of a transfer elsewhere.

Of course, some of the players out on loan are youngsters searching for valuable first-team experience before they step up to the big leagues with Spurs.

Should they stay or should they go?

So, what does the future hold for those 13 players, then? For Football.London, Alasdair Gold offers his insights.

Of the 13, Gold is almost certain that seven will move on permanently this summer as they have no future under Postecoglou. They are Djed Spence, Tanguy Ndombele, Joe Rodon, Japhet Tanganga, and Sergio Reguilon.

Ivan Perisic is technically on loan at Hajduk Split, but is already lined up to join them permanently, while Eric Dier’s loan move to Bayern Munich will run through to his contract expiry in the summer anyway.

Meanwhile, academy graduates Troy Parrott and Matthew Craig’s futures are “in doubt.” The pair are impressing at Excelsior Rotterdam and Doncaster Rovers, respectively, but may never reach the levels expected at Spurs.

However, bright futures await Josh Keeley, Alfie Devine, Ashley Phillips, and Alejo Veliz, according to Gold. The quartet are highly rated at Spurs and are merely finding their feet in the world of football right now as they look to develop into first-team stars.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would agree with all of these predictions. The most frustrating ones are Djed Spence and Sergio Reguilon, really. With Spurs in need of new back-up full-backs, it seems silly that we would let them go, but they are simply not right for the club.
