Alasdair Gold ‘would be stunned’ if Spurs star went on pre-season tour amid exit rumours

Alasdair Gold does not expect Hugo Lloris to fly to Australia with the Tottenham squad on their pre-season tour as the goalkeeper will instead be allowed to find himself a new club.

It is clear that Lloris’ days at Spurs are now numbered, with new signing Guglielmo Vicario expected to take over the number-one shirt from the Frenchman.

The Tottenham captain has been training at Hotspur Way for the past week as he looks to finalise his next destination, with reports indicating that he already has multiple offers on the table.

It was reported by The Telegraph a few days ago that three different clubs have sent offers to the 36-year-old, with the publication adding that the goalkeeper could remain back in London to sort out his future.

Hugo Lloris not expected to make pre-season plane

The Tottenham squad fly out to Australia this week ahead of their first official pre-season friendly against West Ham United in Perth, and Gold has now said that he would be stunned if Lloris is on the plane.

The journalist said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “The interesting thing on the tour now is that he will seemingly be the senior goalkeeper.

“Lloris I would be stunned if he went, I would imagine if you were Spurs you would let him crack on and get his new club. So that would mean Vicario, Austin and Whiteman because Forster is injured.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will fully cooperate with Hugo and allow him to choose the destination of his choice this summer. I would not be surprised if the club even terminate his contract and allow the 36-year-old to complete a free transfer. I expect the goalkeeper to return to Ligue 1.
