Alasdair Gold’s Spurs sources reveal why Nuno has been ‘brooding’ this week

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has reportedly learned from people at Tottenham that Nuno Espirito Santo has cut an unhappy figure following the events of the recent international break.

Tottenham were without several of their key players for their trip to Selhurst Park, with South American trio Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez having to quarantine in Croatia.

However, the Spurs boss would have still expected a better showing from the players who took to the field as the Lilywhites struggled to impose themselves on the game.

Nuno admitted after the game that the lack of creativity going forward was a matter of concern.

According to Gold, the 47-year-old is still ‘smarting and brooding’ from the havoc caused by the international period.

The journalist explains that Nuno likes things to run like clockwork and is one to plan meticulously which is why he has been bothered by international circumstances falling out of his control.

His staff are apparently fully aware when Nuno is in a bad mood and he said to be a ‘stickler for efficiency and time-keeping’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think it is a good thing that Nuno is irked by what he saw on Saturday as we were completely toothless going forward.

The 47-year-old does not seem like the type of coach who would express his anger to his players in the manner his predecessor would.

However, he would have certainly seen things he did not like and that will almost certainly impact his selection and tactical approach moving forward.
