Albert Gudmundsson hands Tottenham potential boost in race to sign him

Albert Gudmundsson has seemingly given Tottenham a ‘come and get me plea’ by admitting that he is keen to test himself in the Premier League.

The speculation over Gudmundsson’s future has gone into hyperdrive over the past few weeks, with the Iceland international widely being backed to swap Genoa for a bigger club this summer.

Spurs Web has relayed a number of reports from Italy this month which have suggested that it is currently a three-horst race for the versatile forward between Tottenham, Inter Milan and Juventus (SportItalia).

It has also been suggested by various sources recently that the Lilywhites might hold an advantage in the race as they would be able to meet Genoa’s asking price while the Bianconeri and the Nerazzurri might find it quite difficult to do so (Tuttosport via Sport Witness).

Albert Gudmundsson wants a Premier League move

The Genoa star has now admitted that he wants to test himself at the highest level and expressed his love for the Premier League.

Gudmundsson told The Telegraph: “I really want to test myself at the highest level possible. I feel good here and still under contract here at Genoa and want to finish the season and see what happens.

“But obviously as a player and lover of football, I’ve dreamt of playing at the highest level. Always, that is my ambition. Since I was a kid I always thought about playing in the Premier League, so obviously it is something I definitely want to try.”

This admission from Gudmundsson has effectively ended the rumours regarding the 26-year-old’s alleged preference to stay in Serie A. One would expect Spurs to get this deal over the line quickly, especially given the relationship they have with Genoa.
