Alderweireld provides update on his future

After a long summer of transfer speculation, Toby Alderweireld is set to return to north London to begin training next Monday for the weekends game against Newcastle United.

Alderweireld told HLN Sport:

“I will return to London this weekend for the start of pre-season with my club.”

The Belgian international has been tipped for a move to Manchester United for the entirety of the transfer window but United have been unable to meet Spurs’ £75m asking price.

Alderweireld, like eight other Spurs players missed the pre-season tour of the USA following his extended World Cup run with Belguim who finished in third place.

However, there remains one week left until the transfer window shuts and as we all know anything can happen.

The 29-year-old defender only has next season remaining on his contract at Tottenham meaning should he not sign a new deal he will leave Spurs for £25m at the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

With this in mind, Spurs fans would you cut your losses and allow ALderweireld to leave now for £75m or would you like him to stay for one more season?
