Aleksandar Mitrovic claims reported Tottenham target is going through a ‘bit of a crisis’

Fulham striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, believes that his Serbian international teammate, Luka Jovic, needs to be playing more regularly than he has done for Real Madrid this season.

Jovic has failed to hit the expected heights since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu last summer, having found the back of the net just twice so far for the Spanish giants (transfermarkt).

Real Madrid are contemplating moving the young striker on after just one season at the club, according to the Mirror.

Tottenham are said to be interested in bringing the 22-year-old to North London but reportedly face competition from both Chelsea and Arsenal for his signature (Daily Star).

Mitrovic believes that his compatriot is going through a personal crisis, which can only be resolved if he plays more games.

Relating Jovic’s ordeal to his own experience at Newcastle, he insisted that it was vital for the striker’s happiness to be on the pitch.

Speaking to ButaSport, the Fulham star said: “Luka is in a bit of a crisis. When you are a striker, the most important thing is that you’re on the pitch. That’s my view.

“I don’t think he was on the field that much and didn’t get that much of a chance. I was in such a situation at Newcastle.

“You just get a chance for five, 10, 15, 20 minutes, and during that time you literally try to do what you should do and shouldn’t do, to show everyone that you are worth it, especially when you play in such a big club. You want to do everything and you burn out in that desire.

“I have told him a couple of times that he really has everything required to be a great attacker.”

Hopefully, Jovic listens to Mitrovic’s advice and pushes for a move this summer. While the 22-year-old has had an extremely disappointing first-season at Madrid, he has still shown glimpses of his undoubted talent. So, I doubt Zidane will want to sell him permanently without a buy-back clause. I believe he is likely to be loaned out this summer.
