Alfie Devine scores impressive goal for Preston against Blackburn

Alfie Devine scored his third goal of the season for Preston North End in their home defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Friday.

Several Tottenham youngsters have been impressing on loan this season, none more so than Luka Vuskovic, who has been one of Hamburg’s best players so far.

Another man who has been quietly putting in consistent performances this term is Alfie Devine, who has produced some moments of real quality for Preston North End.

The Tottenham midfielder showcased his skills again on Friday, scoring an excellent goal for the Championship outfit.

Alfie Devine continues his loan spell at Preston

It was Blackburn who took the lead on 45 minutes at Deepdale, with Lewis Miller heading the away side in front from a corner.

However, the home team hit back through Devine just a minute later.

The Tottenham midfielder showed took an impressive touch, played a one-two at the edge of the box before showing good strength to keep hold of possession and lob the goalkeeper.

However, the evening ended in disappointing fashion for Devine and his Preston teammates, with Andri Gudjohnsen scoring the winner for Blackburn in the second-half.

A make-or-break season for Devine

The 21-year-old has not developed as quickly as some at Hotspur Way would have hoped and has stagnated a bit over the last two seasons.

Alasdair Gold has said that this could be a make-or-break season for Alfie Devine and his aspirations of forcing himself into the Tottenham first-team set-up.

Devine has been solid but unspectacular so far this term, with three goals and an assist to his name in 15 Championship outings, but one suspects that the youngster will have to do even better if he is to catch Thomas Frank’s eye.
