‘All but over’ – Player not keen on Spurs’ plans; now set for move elsewhere

The Athletic have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur’s proposed move for Adama Traore is all but over, with Barcelona now pushing ahead with a move for the winger.

It seemed like only a matter of time before Traore would be complete a move to Tottenham last week after Football Insider reported that Spurs and Wolves had agreed on a fee.

However, it now appears as if Tottenham’s move for the pacy winger has now fallen through.

The Athletic reveal Spurs’ talks with Wolves had been moving in the right direction but the 25-year-old had his doubts over the move since he was reluctant about playing as a right wing-back.

The report suggests that Tottenham’s pursuit of the Spaniard now ‘seems to be over’.

It is claimed that the Catalan giants are putting together a package to sign Traore on an initial loan deal with an option to buy him on a permanent basis for €35m (£29.1m).

If the move goes through, the winger will return to the Camp Nou, six and a half years after leaving the club to join Aston Villa as a teenager.

Perhaps, Barcelona’s interest in Traore and his willingness to return to Camp Nou, is why Tottenham’s move for the Wolves man was stalling.

That also could explain Spurs’ push for Porto’s Luis Diaz over. It now seems fairly certain that Conte is not going to get a new right wing-back before Monday’s deadline.
