Some Spurs fans have urged Dele Alli to stay at the club and show Jose Mourinho what is capable of, amid the speculation surrounding his future.
The midfielder has been left out of Tottenham’s last two match day squads, with reports indicating that could leave the North Londoners on loan deal before the transfer window closes (Telegraph).
However, Mourinho admitted in his pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s Europa League third-round tie against KF Shkendija this evening that he does not expect the midfielder to leave before the transfer window closes.
The Spurs head coach said that it was normal for players lacking consistently to be left out of the squad and insisted that it was up to the England international to prove himself again.
The Spurs midfielder appeared to be all smiles in training ahead of the team’s trip to Macedonia.
Reacting to the picture, some Tottenham fans hoped that the midfielder can put his problems behind him and prove his class on the pitch.
Good to see Dele smiling after the media jumping on him missing a couple of squads.
If it gives him extra motivation to prove how good he is, Jose has played a blinder!— It all seems a bit trivial now (@MattyFrench82) September 23, 2020
clearly a message… his staying and was never going to leave just a little Jose kick… ;-) time for @skysports @talksport to stop the idle chit chat

Come one, Dele. Let’s see if you can step up and be the player we know you are. Get back to that form of a few years ago.

I am so happy to see Dele smiling, one of my absolute favourite Spurs players, such a talent in my opinion, and such a lovely lad as well, rightly very popular with his teammates and does lots of good in the community, for charity etc

Spurs Web Opinion
I do not think we should take Mourinho’s comments about expecting Alli to stay on face value. Even if the club are looking to sell him, it is unlikely that they are going to declare their intention to the world. However, Alli is clearly a popular player not just within the squad but also among Spurs fans. So, let us hope that he can turn things around starting with a decent performance against KF Shkendija this evening.
