All you need to know about Kevin Mier – The Colombian star wanted by Spurs

Tottenham are thought to have their eyes on South American goalkeeper starlet Kevin Mier ahead of the summer transfer window.

It emerged a few days ago that Tottenham scout Jeff Vetere had resigned after inexplicably revealing details to Colombian television regarding some of the players that the North London club were watching and targeting (The Daily Mail)

One of the names reportedly named as a target by Vetere was Nacional shot-stopper, Mier.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper has come through the youth ranks at the club and after impressing on loan at Santa Fe and Valledupar, was given the number-one shirt in 2021.

The youngster has already helped Nacional win the 2021 Copa Colombia, the 2022 Categoria Primera A season Apertura, and the 2023 Superliga Colombiana, keeping 22 clean sheets in 62 first-team appearances so far.

Mier has also represented Colombia right from Under-15s through to the Under-21s level, and it is only a matter of time before the youngster wins his first senior cap.

The Nacional star has been often been compared to Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina by the press back in his country (Bolavip).

Spurs Web Opinion

I doubt Tottenham are looking at Mier as a direct replacement for Hugo Lloris in the summer.

The North London club would probably want the 22-year-old to serve as a backup for a year or two before staking a claim for the number one shirt.

Spurs’ pursuit of Mier will likely be independent of their rumoured attempts to sign the likes of Pickford and Raya.
