According to Il Messaggero, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.
The 24-year-old who has been Lazio’s number 1 for two seasons now has evolved into one of the best shot-stoppers in the Seria A, and has played a pivotal part in Lazio’s challenge for the Champions League places this season.
With Michel Vorm expected to leave in the summer when his contract expires, and with Spurs skipper Hugo Lloris’ form leaving a lot to be desired this season, it is suggested that Spurs might launch a bid for the Albanian international this summer.
Here’s all you need to know about Strakosha
Full Name: Thomas Strakosha
Playing Style: The 6-foot 4-inch man is a fantastic shot-stopper, who relies on his positioning and reflexes rather than his acrobatic abilities. While shot stopping is Strakosha main attribute, he is also tidy with the ball at his feet.
Strengths: Shot-stopping, positioning, quick off his line
Weaknesses: No obvious weaknesses
Highlights of His Career: The 24-year-old has been in Lazio’s books since 2012, but has become their undisputed number 1 in the last two seasons. The Albanian’s performances in the last two seasons have caught the attention of many clubs, as he is now rated as one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Serie A.
Rumour Rating: C-
While Strakosha would no doubt be a great addition to the team, it is unlikely that Spurs are looking for a number 1 in the summer. Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga are likely to still remain Tottenham No. 1 and No. 2 respectively and is a third keeper that Tottenham are looking for.
That makes a move for Strakosha unlikely particularly given that he will reportedly cost around £30 million. Besides, it won’t make sense for the 24-year-old to move to a team where he is unlikely to be No.1
