Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has delivered a positive injury update on Serge Aurier.
The right-back has not featured for the North Londoners since they beat West Bromwich Albion at the beginning of the month and has missed the subsequent matches against Everton, Manchester City, Wolfsberger and West Ham (transfermarkt).
Mourinho revealed that the Ivorian will miss this afternoon’s return leg against the Austrian side in the Europa League round of 32 tie, but could return in time for Sunday’s visit of Burnley in the Premier League.
Japhet Tanganga started at right-back during Sunday’s trip to West Ham, but the academy product was brought off at half-time in place of Matt Doherty.
The Portuguese told the official Spurs site: “Serge is almost there, I believe for the weekend and if not the weekend, Fulham next week, but Serge is coming,”
Aurier has shown significant signs of improvement this season following the arrival of Matt Doherty from Wolves this summer, but frustratingly is still capable of a lapse of concentration which can end up costing his side dearly.
