Multiple sources are now reporting that Brennan Johnson is very close to sealing a deadline-day move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Just a little while ago, we relayed an update from The Daily Mail’s live transfer blog, which claimed that Nottingham Forest had turned down Tottenham’s £40m offer for Johnson.

The outlet asserted that Spurs want to get a couple of players out of the door before making an improved offer and suggested that the deal could go right down to the wire.

The deal is very close for Johnson to Tottenham

However, various journalists are now reporting that Johnson is now on the verge of moving to Tottenham, with The Times’ Gary Jacob claiming that a deal worth £40m plus add-ons is now very close to being agreed.

Meanwhile John Cross has said that there is now a ‘growing belief’ at Tottenham that a deal for the Wales international will be done while Sami Mokbel stated that the transfer is now ‘moving quickly.

Fabrizio Romano even took to social media to assert that Johnson’s move to N17 is now ‘almost there’.

Spurs Web Opinion

It was always quite clear that this deal was going to get done since all three parties showed an inclination to complete it. I do not think Johnson will be the only player to arrive through the door at Spurs on deadline day.

I am confident that a centre-back will be signed, given that Sanchez and Tanganga (and possibly Dier) are set to leave. A midfielder might also arrive if Hojbjerg is offloaded.
