Speaking to The Daily Mail, Manchester City defender John Stones has compared his club teammate Erling Haaland and England captain Harry Kane.
Since arriving at Manchester City in the summer, Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm. He has scored 23 goals in 18 games across all competitions already this season (Transfermarkt).
Harry Kane has enjoyed a great start to the season too, though not quite as prolific as Haaland. The 29-year-old has 13 goals in 22 games so far (Transfermarkt).
With the domestic season paused for the 2022 World Cup, Harry Kane is looking to add to his tally of 51 international goals for England (Transfermarkt) as the Three Lions progress to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Meanwhile, with Norway failing to qualify for the World Cup, Haaland will no doubt be putting in the hours on the training pitch ready to do more damage for Manchester City in the second half of the season as his team look to defend their Premier League crown.
There’s no question that both Haaland and Kane are world-class strikers, but who is better? John Stones has a good insight into both players, and he offered his answer to that question.
When asked if Kane is as good as Haaland, Stones said: “Definitely. Erling is new to our league and Harry has been playing it all his life.”
“They’re both incredible players. Harry has always been incredible for me, incredible to play with, and I’m sure he’ll get on the scoresheet soon.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I think it’s rather difficult to compare Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, and it’s certainly too early to ask if Haaland is as good as Kane. We know there’s more to Kane’s game than just scoring goals, and while Haaland has looked very impressive so far, he has a long way to go before he can match the more experienced Kane.
