Jamie Carragher has said that he has seen little to suggest that Tottenham have fixed their issues, pointing out that the same defensive problems continue to be the Lilywhites’ undoing.

Jamie Carragher has shared his opinion on Spurs after draw
Spurs’ Premier League season opener against Leicester City took a similar pattern to many of their games last season, with Ange Postecoglou‘s men utterly dominant for large parts of the game but yet, failing to emerge with three points.
While there was a lot to be excited about with Tottenham’s first-half display, the second-half showing will cause alarm bells to ring, with the away side looking susceptible at the back every time Leicester committed bodies forward.
The equaliser that Spurs conceded was extremely soft, with Jamie Vardy ghosting in unmarked at the far post to convert an easy header to level the score at 1-1 at the King Power Stadium.
The North Londoners dominated proceedings in the first half but were unable to take a number of decent chances, while debutant Dominic Solanke was among those who should have scored early in the second half.
Carragher suggested that Tottenham under Postecoglou have almost reverted to the team that they have traditionally been in the past – a side that plays good football but always looks susceptible at the back.

Tottenham will be disappointed with 1-1 draw at Leicester City
When asked if the draw was a setback to Spurs’ aspirations of a top-four finish, the Liverpool legend told Sky Sports Main Event (19/8/24 – 22:28): “You’re right, there will be a feeling and you can see it in his [Postecoglou’s] interview with his head bowed a little bit. He will be disappointed, they were so much in control of the game and they’ve ended up sort of losing.
“It goes back to what I said at the start of the show that Postecoglou has almost taken Tottenham back to what we always associated with Tottenham and a lot of those are good things. Attacking play, great on the eye but you always feel that they can let you down or concede a goal.
“When you are so dominant in a game, to not come away with three points is criminal for them considering the opposition they were up against in a promoted team. It wasn’t like we saw Ipswich against Liverpool where it was this raucous atmosphere where it was difficult to play.
“It was like a pre-season friendly in the first half or the first hour. Leicester get the goal from nowhere, then they are up and could actually go on to win the game with the Jamie Vardy chance probably being the best chance after Leicester equalised. I think that is a bit of a blow for them.”
Spurs are next in action on Saturday when they host Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with both sides seeking their first win of the new season.

Unfortunately, it is starting to seem like the issue is systemic, rather than to do with personnel. Given how high Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro play when we have the ball, we always look exposed at the back when we turnover possession.
