‘Always grateful’ – Dele takes to Instagram after LASK appearance

Tottenham Hotspur had the luxury of being able to name 12 substitutes on the bench for the Europa League group stage opener against LASK on Thursday night.

UEFA decided to allow clubs participating in the Europa League and Champions League this season to have the luxury of increased options to choose from with five replacements able to take to the field in any one game (Spurs official).

With Dele Alli having struggled to hold down a regular place in Jose Mourinho’s squad this season, the rule change afforded the Portuguese to give the midfielder a rare run out.

The 24-year-old replaced Erik Lamela after 62 minutes and had a good opportunity to find the back of the net but was unable to beat Alexander Schlager in goal who managed to get a hand on the England international’s effort.

Dele took to Instagram last night to express his appreciation at being able to play the game he loves most.
