Emerson Royal’s move to AC Milan has finally been confirmed, and the Brazilian has shared a heartfelt message with Tottenham Hotspur fans as news of his departure broke on social media.

After months of negotiations, Tottenham confirmed on Monday, August 12 that Royal had made the permanent switch to AC Milan, bringing to an end three years in North London for the full-back.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is worth in excess of €15m (£12.8m). It is said Royal had four or five other offers, but only ever wanted to join the Italian giants.
Taking to social media after the move was announced, Royal shared Tottenham‘s official Instagram post on his story and captioned it with the following message: “Thank you for everything… you will always [be] in my heart.”

It has now been close to three months since Romano first broke the news of Milan’s interest in Royal, and negotiations have been long and arduous since then.
Royal himself had made no secret of his desire to move on, telling Globo that he had to consider his options in order to secure regular first-team football and had told Ange Postecoglou as much.
Spurs have taken quite the financial hit on Royal, having paid over £25m for the right-back in 2021 (Sky Sports). The Brazilian had two years left on his contract, but was falling down the pecking order at Tottenham.

This is a great move for Royal and I’m sure he will absolutely flourish in Italy with AC Milan. I’ll be watching his progress over there closely.
It’s a shame to see him go in one way, because he seemed such a nice guy who always gave it everything he had for Spurs, but he simply was not good enough.
