‘Amazing because of you’ – Son reacts to scooping Player of the Season awards

Son Heung-min has taken to social media to thank the Tottenham fans after sweeping all available Player of the Year awards.

There was a celebratory atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the Lilywhties edged Burnley out 1-0 in their final home game of the season to move into fourth place.

Tens of thousands of fans stayed back after the final whistle as the players and the staff, along with their families, did a lap of appreciation around the stadium to thank fans for their support through the season.

The end of the year awards were also handed out and, unsurprisingly, Son took home the Supporters Club, One Hotspur and Junior One Hotspur Player of the Season awards.

Son won these three categories for the third time after doing so previously in the 2018-19 season and the 2019-20 campaigns.

Here’s how the South Korean reacted on social media:

“A special thank you to all of you Spurs supporters for this season. The atmospheres have been amazing because of you. It is an honour for me to be voted the Supporters Club, One Hotspur and Junior One Hotspur player of the season. We will fight until the final whistle next week!”

The 29-year-old will also be hoping to win the Premier League Golden Boot for the first time in his career as he now sits just one goal behind Mohamed Salah ahead of Tottenham’s final game of the season at Carrow Road.

There was always going to be just one winner this season, particularly with Oliver Skipp missing the second half of the campaign after his impressive start to the season. Son seems to be getting better every year and he most certainly deserves to win the Golden Boot ahead of Salah.
