‘Amazing game’ – Tottenham player is fully focused on beating Man City

Dejan Kulusevski is insisting that Tottenham Hotspur are focused on beating Manchester City and are not thinking of the implications of taking points from their opponents.

North London rivals Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League table a point ahead of City going into the final weekend of the season, however, Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand which comes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow night.

Victory for City at Tottenham would put them two points clear of the Gunners and in control of their own destiny going into the final day when they face West Ham United at the Etihad.

Tottenham returned to winning ways on Saturday with a narrow 2-1 victory against Burnley which condemned the Clarets back to the Championship as a result of Micky van de Ven’s late goal.

Kulusevski is not thinking of helping Arsenal to win the title

He told the Evening Standard when ask if he is considering the implications of a win: “No. When you play football, you want to win [for yourself], and that’s the only thing we think about.”

The Swede has played down the significance of the match with the club still having an outside chance of Champions League football if Aston Villa lose to Liverpool this evening.

Kulusevski added: “I honestly don’t watch the schedule.

“I just want to win. I know it’s an amazing game now on Tuesday against City, and my focus is on that now. If we win, then anything can happen.

“It’s going to be an amazing game because we always have good games against City. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to play against the best. I think we will absolutely be ready.”

The winger believes that Spurs can make it a difficult match for City under the lights in N17, he continued:

He said: “I think we’ve got what it takes to make a game of it and play our football and see where that takes us.

“They [City] and Arsenal are the benchmark of the competition right now.”

SpursWeb Opinion

Kulusevski is a professional footballer and will always want to be on the winning side and having not been brought up as a Tottenham fan to fully understand the deep hatred of the rivalry with Arsenal, many supporters in the home section will hope he is on the receiving end of a defeat if it means the Gunners finishing in second place.
