‘Amazing player’ – Gabriel Jesus wants to battle Spurs star for Golden Boot – Not Kane or Son

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has described Richarlison as an ‘amazing player’ and said that he wants to fight his compatriot for the Premier League Golden Boot next season.

Richarlison has been the most expensive of Spurs’ six summer signings so far, with the fee potentially rising to £60m including add-ons (Guardian).

The 25-year-old has demonstrated during Tottenham’s two pre-season friendlies so far that he is capable of operating across the front three, this giving Antonio Conte plenty of options in the forward areas.

Richarlison’s compatriot Jesus also made a big-money move to North London this summer, reuniting with his Mikel Arteta, who he worked with during his time at Manchester City.

Jesus is expected to be the Gunners’ main man up front, and he and Richarlison are seemingly fighting it out to be Brazil’s first choice number nine for the World Cup in Qatar this November.

The Arsenal striker wished his international teammate the best at his new club except when they square off in the North London derby.

Jesus told Sky Sports about Richarlison’s move to Tottenham: “I hope we both can be fighting for the Golden Boot at the end of the season. I like him. He’s a very good guy. Amazing player. So I wish him all the best. But not against Arsenal.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Realistically speaking, I do not think either Richarlison or Jesus will be anywhere close to winning the Golden Boot. In fact, I am confident that Harry Kane will run away with it if he can stay injury free, particularly given how sharp he looked towards the end of the last season.
