‘An animal’ – Teammate gives Spurs lots of reasons to move for centre-back target

Mergim Vojvoda has branded Torino teammate Gleison Bremer ‘an animal’ amidst reported interest from Tottenham.

Spurs have consistently faltered defensively under two different managers this season, which has seen them crash out of three competitions and drift away in the top four race.

The Telegraph claims Antonio Conte is making rigorous plans to address the issue in the upcoming summer transfer window, and Torino’s Bremer is said to be one name on the list of targets.

Conte has reportedly shortlisted the Brazilian centre-back as an option to bolster his options in defence having impressed throughout the Serie A campaign this term (TuttoSport).

And Bremer’s teammate Vojvoda has given Spurs every reason to push for a transfer by describing plenty of his best defensive traits.

He told TuttoMercatoWeb: “[Bremer] is very strong, an animal.

“He has made an incredible leap in quality in the last year. But he can still improve a lot because he is young. He has renewed, we hope he stays because he is really strong.

“Physically, he is strong. He works hard and as soon as I arrived, I was impressed by how much he trained. He is also fast, he is tall and has made a great leap in quality on a technical level, with the ball at his feet. Work pays off, you can see it with him.”

Bremer has been a key reason as to why Torino have conceded the third-fewest goals in Serie A this term, turning out in 24 games so far (Transfermarkt).

Spurs may face intense competition for his signature though, with CalcioMercato previously reporting the 24-year-old had agreed to join Inter Milan at the end of the season despite signing a one-year contract extension with Torino.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bremer is expected to be highly sought after this summer having been one of Torino’s best defensive assets this season.

He would be good in the back three for Spurs, but obviously with Inter lurking pretty close, it might be a tricky deal to complete if something has happened between those two clubs already.
