‘An instinct in front of goal’ – Pundit is convinced teenage Spurs target is ready to explode

Joleon Lescott has said that he has seen enough in Roony Bardghji to be confident that the rumoured Tottenham target can succeed at the highest level.

Bardghji has won several admirers with his displays for Copenhagen in the Danish top flight as well as in the Champions League, with the 18-year-old having found the back of the net 11 times so far this season.

It has been widely reported over the last few months that Tottenham’s scouts are keeping a close eye on the winger’s development as they contemplate a move for him (90 min).

The teenager himself talked up the possibility of a move to Spurs a little over a week ago, admitting in an interview with Aftonbladet that he is quite excited about the idea of linking up with his compatriots Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall at the North London side.

Is Roony Bardghji ready to explode?

Bardghji was an unused substitute for Copenhagen in their 3-1 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League round of 16 clash on Wednesday, but ahead of the game, Lescott had some very complementary words to say about the youngster.

The former City centre-back told TNT Sports’ coverage (via TBR Football) about the young attacker: “He definitely has the belief and the quality to perform at this level. I won’t be surprised if he’s gutted he’s not starting tonight as well. But I’m sure if he gets the opportunity he’ll relish it.

“I think he has an instinct in front of goal, he recognises where the ball might fall. There are certain things that you can’t necessarily coach and to be that comfortable in front of goal at such a young age, he obviously believes in his ability.”

The fact that Bardghji is not even a regular in the Copenhagen starting eleven at the moment is perhaps an indication that he is still very raw and not at the required level to hit the ground running in the Premier League. Even if Spurs sign the 18-year-old in the summer, they would probably look to loan him out.
