‘An opportunity’ – Director hints at possible loan agreement with Tottenham

Following his meeting with Daniel Levy over the weekend, Djurgardens sporting director Bosse Andersson has insisted that it is very much possible that Tottenham players can be loaned out to the Swedish club in the future.

Various Swedish outlets have reported that as part of the Lucas Bergvall agreement struck between Djurgardens and Spurs in January, the two clubs had also agreed to discuss a potential partnership.

It was explained by Fotbollskanalen last month that Andersson would shortly fly to London to discuss the details of the partnership with Spurs and the possibility of the Lilywhites playing a pre-season friendly in Sweden.

That meeting did happen over the weekend Football.London’s Alasdair Gold explained a couple of days ago that the Djurgardens director was Levy’s special guest for the clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday and was given the full VIP treatment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs could use Djurgardens as a loan destination

Following the meeting, Andersson has now opened the door to Spurs academy players being loaned out to Djurgardens, pointing out that Tottenham icon Teddy Sheringham spent a season at the Swedish side.

He told Fotbollskanalen, (as relayed by Fotboll Direkt): “If we feel that it is an opportunity for us and Tottenham see an opportunity, and the player agrees to it, then… (it could be relevant). If you can loan a player to Poland, why can’t you do it to Sweden?

“Teddy Sheringham was in Djurgarden for a whole season in 1985. It went pretty well for him. That was a long time ago, but it is clear that such situations can happen again. We have a good league in Sweden.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Sending teenagers out to Sweden for a few months so that they can have a footballing education in a different footballing culture can only be good for their development. I would not be surprised if Spurs start sending a few of their Under-18 players over to Djurgardens.
