Ancelotti confirms Everton will be without first-team regular for Spurs clash

Tottenham have been handed a potential boost ahead of their trip to Goodison Park, with Carlo Ancelotti revealing that Yerry Mina will not be able to feature for Everton.

There is a lot of doom and gloom surrounding Tottenham going into the clash on Friday.

The club now face an uphill task to get into the top four and there have been reports of discontent within the dressing room.

While Jose Mourinho said after the 3-1 loss against Manchester United that he still believes that a top-four finish is possible, his side would need to come away with three points from this clash if they are going to give themselves a fighting chance of making up the ground on those above them.

Everton currently sit just one point below Spurs with a game in hand over the Lilywhites and have Champions League aspirations of their own.

However, the news about Mina’s unavailability comes as a blow to the Toffees with the Colombian having been a regular fixture in their backline this season.

The 26-year-old went off injured in Everton’s 0-0 draw against Brighton on Monday.

Ancelotti told the Liverpool Echo: “Yerry Mina had a muscle problem on his abductor. I think he will not be available for a few weeks.

A loss against Everton would effectively end our top-four hopes. If we were not in a Carabao Cup final, I believe a defeat on Friday would have spelled the end of Mourinho.
