“And breathe” – Some Spurs fans react to be leading against Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur were up against the odds in their game against league leaders Liverpool but the team has put in a spirited performance for the first forty five minutes and find themselves leading 1-0.

Mauricio Pochettino made several changes from the side that thrashed Red Star Belgrade 5-0 on Tuesday and some fans questioned the logic of leaving out the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Ben Davies.

However, on the whole, the team has put in a dogged display after Harry Kane silenced the home crowd early on with a well-taken finish.

The home side did have periods of domination with Paulo Gazzaniga having to make some outstanding saves to keep them side from equalising.

Some Spurs fans were delighted with the spirit the team showed in the first half but were vary of celebrating too early given the team’s recent tendency to be leaky defensively.

Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to the first half performance:

It’s a shame that Erik Lamela is injured for this one as he has the kind of fight needed for this game. Christian Eriksen has been too wasteful in possession and if he doesn’t get better, we will be better served bringing someone like Tanguy Ndombele on. Lucas Moura can also make an impact given the space Liverpool are leaving in behind.
