Andrea Barzagli thinks Spurs star will regret his comments about Juventus

Juventus legend Andrea Barzagli has said that Dejan Kulusevski was wrong to speak negatively about his former club.

Big things were expected of Kulusevski at Juventus, particularly after the winger took the Serie A by storm as a teenager during his loan spell at Parma during the 2019/20 season.

However, the Swede struggled to replicate the same form in Turn and was often overlooked by Massimiliano Allegri.

The 22-year-old is now starting to fulfil his potential at Tottenham, having established himself as one of the North London club’s most important players.

Spurs certainly missed the cutting edge that Kulusevski provides in the final third against Arsenal and Eintracht Frankfurt, with the winger being sidelined with a hamstring problem.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport last month, the Tottenham man opened up on his struggles at Turin, stating that something “didn’t work” at his former club despite the hard work he was putting in.

Kulusevski was not the only former Juve player who spoke negatively about his time with the Serie A giants, with Mattias de Ligt also suggesting recently that he did not play in his favoured position during his time at the club (BavarianFootballWorks).

Barzagli believes that both the Spurs and Bayern Munich stars should have refrained from saying what they did about Juventus.

The 41-year-old told DAZN (as relayed by Juvefc.com) about the pair: “They are all young boys. I would have done without talking.

“Unfortunately in football, especially on the part of the players, we tend to blame others, we never look inside and say that we could gave more.

“Instead of speaking badly, I would have avoided such statements. In a few years, they will reconsider their words.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I thought Kulusevski’s comments were quite measured. The 22-year-old was quite careful not to criticise Allegri or Juve, and spoke more about his own personal struggles at the club. So, I do not see why Barzagli has an issue with what the Swede told Gazzetta dello Sport.
