Leeds boss says good riddance to Spurs player

Andros Townsend’s loan deal at Leeds United has ended at the request of the player.

The Spurs winger joined the Championship club on New Year’s day, penning a deal until the end of the campaign – but with the recent appointment of Neil Warnock, Townsend has decided to head back south.  Whether that has anything to do with the decision is anyone’s guess.

There are rumours that he could instead join Birmingham City which was suggested by the Leeds boss.  Warnock is glad to see the midfielder leave if he has no desire to be at Elland Road.

“I’ve lost Townsend,” Warnock told the club’s official website.

“I’m disappointed because we’ve lost a player, but I don’t want people who don’t want to be here so good riddance I say if it’s what he wants to do.”

“His agent told me he didn’t like here, he wasn’t happy and he hadn’t settled.

“I’ve heard that Birmingham want to sign him, I don’t know if that’s got anything to do with it.
