Ange Postecoglou has now explained why he was left extremely frustrated by Tottenham’s inability to take a lead into the second leg at Eintracht Frankfurt after the Lilywhites were held to a 1-1 draw by the German side in North London on Thursday.
The game did not get off to the best of starts as Hugo Ekitike fired the away side in front with just six minutes on the clock.
That was the last thing that Spurs needed, given that the team was devoid of confidence and the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been quite toxic at times this season.
Last week, Ange Postecoglou pleaded with Spurs fans to get behind their team, and to their credit, the supporters did just that, with the volume being raised at the venue after Frankfurt took the lead.
Tottenham hit back through Pedro Porro on 26 minutes and then went on to dominate the majority of the encounter, fashioning several great chances in the second period, but ultimately, they were unable to find a breakthrough.

Ange Postecoglou opens up on his Tottenham frustration
The Tottenham boss admitted that he was delighted with the performance that he saw from his side, pointing out that Spurs were in control of the game.
Postecoglou explained that he was confident that Spurs would create chances in the second half, given how hard Frankfurt had worked in the first period to keep them out, but he admitted that he was left ruing the fact that his side could not find a second goal.
When asked if he was disappointed not to get the win, the Australian told Football.London: “A little bit frustrated by the result obviously but I thought the performance in general was really good from the boys. We conceded early which was not ideal and it was a fair strike by the lad but I thought our response to that was really good. We stayed in control.
“We scored a good equaliser. We made them work hard in the first half so we knew in the second half, with our ability to break teams open, we would put them under pressure. It is exactly what happened and the boys did everything right.”

Postecoglou could not ask anything more from Spurs players
The 59-year-old felt that his side were unlucky not to get the win, insisting that they could have ended up with a comfortable victory on another day. The under-fire Spurs boss insisted that he could not have asked for more effort or application from his players.
Postecoglou added: “I couldn’t ask for anything more from them. We hit the crossbar three times, their keeper has made some amazing saves. We had a couple of other good opportunities as well.
“On any other night, we would have a comfortable victory. If we can perform like that over there, and there is no reason why we can’t, then we still give ourselves a good chance.”
