Tottenham have had a quiet January transfer window so far

Tottenham are still without a number of players due to injury. The defence remains particularly depleted, with first-team defenders including Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie all injured. Despite this, Spurs have made just one signing since the transfer window opened.

With Guglielmo Vicario injured and Fraser Forster out with an illness, Tottenham were forced to give Brandon Austin his long-awaited debut near the start of the month against Newcastle United.

However, they now have Antonin Kinsky, who signed from Slavia Prague for £12.5m and has kept two clean sheets in his first three Spurs starts.

Yang-Min-Hyeok has also arrived at Hotspur Way, after a deal was reached between Spurs and Gangwon in the summer, but he is yet to feature for Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou believes Spurs need January signings

Ange Postecoglou has been asked about new signings and his answer suggests Tottenham could see some new arrivals before the January transfer window comes to an end.

In his answer, Postecoglou has made it no secret that he feels players must be added to the Tottenham first-team squad and the sooner this happens, the better.

However, when asked if he was frustrated by the lack of outfield transfers in a window when the squad needs help, he has insisted the club are doing everything they can.

He said (Alasdair Gold): “It’s not frustration. It would be frustration and disappointment if the club weren’t working hard, but they are.

“It’s an easy word to say but I know how hard the club have been working behind the scenes to get something done, but it’s not easy. You need agreement from three different parties.

“Sometimes, when you’re in our situation, other clubs realise that and try to make the most of it.

“That’s why I was delighted to get Toni in fairly early. That’s helped us for sure, but it’s not for the want of trying so I accept that and I’m not disappointed or frustrated. I’m actually pleased at how hard the club is working.”

On whether he is confident more deals will happen, he added: “As confident as you can be. It is tricky as all clubs are finding. And I guess traditionally it ramps up in that final week so we’re approaching there for all clubs. It’s even trickier in January because one you try to acquire a player, the club wants to replace that player. So there’s all sorts of logistics involved.”

Which positions are Tottenham looking to sign players in?

Much has been spoken of Randal Kolo Muani. The PSG striker has joined Juventus, although he had been linked with Spurs. While Richarlison has returned from his hamstring injury, it is possible Tottenham will attempt to sign another striker to challenge Dominic Solanke.

It would also make sense for Spurs to attempt to sign a centre-back, which is the position where they currently lack depth the most.

However, Postecoglou will likely be happy to have reinforcements anywhere on the pitch, with Tottenham performing pretty poorly in most areas of the pitch at this moment in time.
