Ange Postecoglou was asked what he wanted to tell the fans after Tottenham Hotspur slipped into their 18th defeat of the season, with the Australian making it clear to the Spurs supporters that their standard of performances in the Premier League this season has not been up to scratch.
The mood surrounding Spurs had changed following their progression to the Europa League semifinal last week, and supporters would have hoped the win over Eintracht Frankfurt would be the start of a turnaround.
Yet, it was more of the same from Tottenham back in the Premier League as they fell to yet another loss at home, with Nottingham Forest doing the double over the Lilywhites.
While Ange Postecoglou will feel that his side deserved to get three points, given the domination they enjoyed, it is a script that has become all too familiar to Spurs fans this season.

Ange Postecoglou admits everyone at Tottenham is frustrated
Postecoglou admitted that the players and the staff were hurting just like the supporters were and accepted responsibility for his side’s continued struggles in the Premier League.
However, the Tottenham boss insisted that the display from his players was not too different to what they produced against Frankfurt.
When asked what message he wanted to send to the supporters following their 18th defeat of the league season, Postecoglou told Football.London: “I don’t need to say anything to the fans. The fans are disappointed and angry as we are as well. It’s too many losses, I know that. I don’t need to tell the fans anything. The fans clearly wouldn’t be happy with our results, but neither am I or the players.
“From our perspective, it’s something we need to accept responsibility that we have fallen short of the standards we need to have.
“The flip side of that is that the frustrating bit is it’s not because of the way we are playing because our football today was very similar to the Frankfurt game at home which was another game we should have won.”
What impact does this result have on Ange Postecoglou’s future?
We have already heard several reports over recent weeks suggesting that Tottenham are planning to make a managerial change this summer, no matter what happens in the Europa League.
Following the win over Frankfurt, the Australian potentially handed himself a lifeline and he would have hoped to have a strong finish to the season.
However, this loss serves as further evidence that Postecoglou is unable to get consistent results in the league, and it might have sealed the 59-year-old’s fate this summer.
