Ange Postecoglou has now officially beaten one promising Mikel Arteta statistic

The season may not be over just yet, but Ange Postecoglou has now amassed more points in his debut campaign with Spurs than Mikel Arteta did during his first year with Arsenal back in the 2019/20 season.

There were doubts over Ange Postecoglou when he first took over at Spurs, but the Australian seems to have silenced the critics to some degree in his inaugural season as Tottenham boss.

An unbeaten start in the first ten games had Spurs fans dreaming of a title challenge, but an injury crisis in the middle of the campaign really derailed those efforts. Still, the Lilywhites have remained around the top four, and still have a chance of securing Champions League football for next season.

Regardless of where Tottenham do finish in the Premier League this year, Postecoglou has made great progress with a Spurs team that lost Harry Kane, and still has a lot of deadwood within the squad.

Postecoglou’s points tally beats Arteta’s debut campaign

And, he’s now also surpassed the efforts of Mikel Arteta in his first season as Arsenal manager, with Tottenham’s points haul in the Premier League this year already better than the Gunners in 2020.

As per Squawka, the 63 points Spurs have on the board now, with two games to go, is higher than Arsenal’s return of 61 points in the entire 2019/20 campaign.

Squawka tweeted: “Spurs have now won more points in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge of Spurs (63) than Mikel Arteta managed in his first full season in charge of Arsenal (61). Trust the process, mate.”
