Ange Postecoglou is delighted to see Lucas Bergvall being rewarded with a long-term Tottenham contract and has revealed what has impressed him the most about the Swede.
On Tuesday, Lucas Bergvall put pen to paper on a six-year contract at Tottenham, which is nothing more than he deserves after surpassing all expectations in his first year in the Premier League.
Spurs fans are overjoyed that Bergvall has committed to a new contract, with supporters wanting the club to build the team around the youngster over the coming years.
It is certainly a big coup for the Lilywhites, with the 19-year-old demonstrating his quality time and again this season in high-pressure clashes.

Postecoglou feels that the teenager richly deserved the contract on the back of the way he has developed over the last 12 months.
He praised the youngster for not allowing his head to drop after a difficult start to life at Tottenham and grabbing the opportunities that came his way with both hands.
When asked about Bergvall’s new six-year deal, Postecoglou told Football.London: “Yeah, hugely so, and I’m delighted for Lucas. It’s a reward for his development this year, his performances and how well he has adapted.
“We’ve got to remember a lot of young guys who come to the Premier League maybe have a step in between whether that is playing in another league, but he has come straight from the Swedish league, a year of senior football and it’s a credit to him. He’s worked really hard at his game.
“At the beginning, he was struggling to cope with the intensity and tempo, as you’d expect and we expected. A lot of our football and life in general is opportunity. He had an opportunity this year because of the situation we were in and he grabbed it with both hands.
“And even now, we’ve virtually got a full squad to pick from and he’s still being selected because he took the opportunity. I think there is a core group of young players here that hopefully we can build something from.”

Things may not have gone according to plan for Tottenham Hotspur on the pitch this season, but that has not dampened the midfielder’s excitement about what lies ahead.
After putting pen to paper on a new deal, Bergvall admitted that he is looking forward to achieving big things at Spurs.
The Sweden international could yet win a trophy in his first season at N17, with the Lilywhites looking to make the Europa League final.
