Ange Postecoglou’s relationship with the Tottenham supporters has seemingly soured after his controversial gesture on Thursday but the Spurs boss has now made one request to the fans ahead of the crucial matches coming up.
Many Tottenham supporters were already at the end of their patience with the Australian, and some fans acted with anger when Ange Postecoglou cupped his ears to the away end at Stamford Bridge following Pape Sarr’s equaliser, only for it to be ruled out due to VAR.
The Spurs boss made that gesture after his decision to bring Pape Sarr on was booed and there were many uncomplimentary chants sung about him from the travelling contingent.
However, Postecoglou has denied cupping his ears to the fans, insisting that he only wanted the celebrations from the away end to be louder.

Ange Postecoglou urged the Tottenham Hotspur fans to get behind the side in the big games coming up, irrespective of what their feelings are towards him.
He stated: “It’s been a ridiculously challenging season on all fronts and every fan has the right to show their frustration. I think at times it has overstepped, and when it oversteps I will not stand for it because I am a little bit old school with that, but they have every right. I said before the game it is up to us to try and find a way to get them back on board with what we’re doing.
“I still can’t get away from the fact we have a real massive opportunity for ourselves between now and the end of the season. I think it would be different if that didn’t exist. It would be a tougher road to navigate.
“But I am hoping that irrespective of how the fans feel about me, what I’m doing and the project we’ve embarked on, I hope when the games come around, they just get behind the players and the team because they can make an enormous difference.”
Spurs fans will get behind the players against Frankfurt
The discontent among the Tottenham fan base towards Postecoglou will not prevent the supporters from getting behind the side, particularly for the big clash against Eintracht Frankfurt next Thursday.
However, given the growing chasm between the supporters and the club in general and the feeling of doom and gloom among the fans, one does worry that the atmosphere could turn toxic if the result is not going Tottenham’s way.
