This summer is expected to be an extremely busy one at Hotspur Way as Postecoglou continues to mould the squad according to his style of play and also add reinforcements so that Spurs can deal with the added strain of European football.

It has been widely reported that there will be a mass exodus from the club this summer, with some sources stating that as many as nine first-team players have already been put up for sale (Football Insider).

Some outlets over recent weeks have claimed that the Australian has asked the club’s hierarchy for four top-class additions, with the club planning on strengthening at the back, in midfield and in attack (TEAMtalk).

Postecoglou confirms early Spurs transfer plans

Postecoglou has confirmed following Totteham’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle at the Melbourne Cricket Ground that the club have already drawn up a transfer plan that he is really comfortable with and are looking to get some signings in before the start of pre-season again.

The 58-year-old also revealed that the Lilywhites will prioritise strengthening their forward line this summer.

Alasdair Gold reports that Postecoglou told him: ‘He said there’s a plan in place he’s really comfortable with. He’s looking to get signings in before pre-season again this summer and the attack is definitely an area he wants new additions in.’

On getting players in early, Postecoglou added (Football London): “Yeah, look it is important. I think it works better Ali. Last year it certainly benefited us in having a couple of players in early to be with the whole squad.

“Again looking at the schedule this year with international commitments, we’re not going to get them all back for the start of pre-season, but if we can get ones in early. It’s easier said than done. Everyone wants to get business done early, everyone is keen to bring players in but the reality is that it takes a little bit of time.

“The good thing for us is that we know what we need to do, we’ve had the plan in place for a while and it’s just about now going through that process.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Postecoglou wants a number six and a number eight as well as additional cover at centre-back and full-back. I personally do not think that Tottenham will sign an out-and-out centre-forward this summer. I suspect Ange will want another versatile forward, who can operate across the front three.
