A disappointing day for Dominic Solanke and Pape Matar Sarr

Spurs went into the game against Ipswich with a chance to potentially break into the top four in the Premier League if they could win and other results went their way.

At home, against an Ipswich side who were yet to win a game this season, the odds were firmly stacked in Tottenham’s favour, but they have yet again fallen to a surprisingly lacklustre defeat.

In truth, Spurs were never at the races, especially in the first-half, where goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap helped give Ipswich the advantage.

A second-half goal from Rodrigo Bentancur brought Ange Postecoglou’s side back into the game, but they failed to take a number of chances that came their way thereafter.

On top of the defeat, Spurs saw Pape Matar Sarr limp off due to injury, and Dominic Solanke struggle through with a knock, too.

Ange Postecoglou’s injury update

Speaking to the press after the game (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked about the condition of the two players, and had some good news and some more worrying news to offer fans.

He said: “I think Pape is all right. He just got a bit of a knock. Dom jarred his knee, it was pretty sore but he wanted to continue. Hopefully it is nothing serious.”

Tottenham fans will now face an anxious wait as further assessments are carried out on both players.

International break upset for Solanke

It would be a real shame if Solanke has got any kind of substantial injury there, not just for Spurs, but also for his own hopes going into the international break. With the form he’s in, he’s likely to get some minutes for England, as long as he’s fit.
