Ange Postecoglou primarily wants to see an improvement in performance levels from Tottenham this season, remarking that success will naturally follow.

Postecoglou enjoyed a successful first season at Spurs
Postecoglou’s first season in charge at Spurs has to be considered to be a relatively successful one, even though the team’s form fell off a cliff towards the end of the campaign and they were pipped by Aston Villa to fourth place.
The Australian was walking into the club at a difficult time and not only had the challenge of completely revamping the team’s style of play but also had to cope with the challenge of losing Harry Kane.
However, the circumstances are a lot different going into the new season, with the 58-year-old having had the opportunity to put his imprint on the squad.
The players also understand their roles in the system much better, which is why Spurs fans will expect the side to finish in the top four.

What are Tottenham’s aims for the new season?
Instead of spelling out concrete objectives, Postecoglou has said first and foremost, he expects the performances to be a lot better.
When asked what his targets were for the upcoming season, the Tottenham head coach told Football.London: “I go into every season with the same kind of target of trying to be successful. The starting point for us is improvement. Improvement in our football, improvement in the consistency of our football.
“As you said, we had a decent season last year. We certainly improved on the season last year in terms of results alone. Obviously, we changed the football and we had some really good moments and some moments where we had to work really hard to get some results and probably the back end of last season was disappointing for us.
“There’s a lot in there but for us, if we can get improvement in that then more consistency gives us an opportunity and a platform to try to achieve something which is what you go into every season trying to do.”
Spurs Web Opinion
While a lot of Tottenham fans were understandably quite patient last season, that will not be the case if we make the same defensive mistakes this season and continue to defend set-pieces poorly.
After the way we finished last campaign, it is vital that we start well this time out.
