Ange Postecoglou has sent a message to Tottenham Hotspur fans following his appointment to become the club’s new head coach.
The Australian has certainly worked hard to get his chance in the Premier League and in a video message to supporters, he assured them that it is time to set off in a new direction and promised to play football in a style that embodies the club’s traditions.
The 57-year-old also hinted at his no-nonsense style approach when it comes to hard work on the training pitch by claiming that no stone would be left unturned during pre-season as part of the preparations for the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.
Postecoglou makes promise to Spurs fans
He said in a video posted on the official Spurs Twitter account: “Hi, everyone. It’s great to finally get started as manager of this great football club. I’m really looking forward to our task ahead. I think it’s an exciting opportunity for us to sort of set off in a new direction, play football and create an environment that embodies the values and traditions of this fantastic football club.
“Hopefully a team you can all be proud of and more importantly, get excited by. I can assure you that right through pre-season, we won’t leave any stone unturned, myself, the staff and the players to make sure that when the league comes around that you’ll all be excited as I am about the season.
“So I really look forward to seeing everyone at the stadium, in particular at our first home game and look forward to the journey ahead.
Having started his managerial career back in 1996, it has taken Postecoglou 27 years to work his way through the wide world of football to arrive at the door of a European top-five league.

The former Celtic boss started his career in Australia, before landing the national job between 2013 and 2017. Postecoglou then made the rather unique switch to Japanese football with Yokohama F. Marinos, which was enough to catch the eye of the Bhoys in 2021.
Postecoglou joins Tottenham off the back of winning the treble with Celtic this season, and Spurs fans will be hoping that trophy run continues, considering the Lilywhites have been without silverware since 2008.
He is Spurs’ fourth permanent manager since Mauricio Pochettino led them to the Champions League final in 2018-19, following Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte.
