“Another awful first half” – Some Spurs fume at performance against Southampton

Tottenham have put in another extremely disappointing first half performance against Southampton this afternoon as they trail 1-0 at the interval.

This is the third consecutive game in which the Lilywhites find themselves a goal behind at half time.

Mourinho abandoned his tried and trusted formation in favour of a conventional 4-2-3-1 for the game with Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Lucas Moura playing behind Harry Kane.

While Spurs have looked relatively comfortable for most of the half, there has been a considerable lack of creativity in midfield. Ndombele had to be withdrawn midway into the half with a knee injury which has only served to further disrupt the Tottenham midfield.

The home side took the lead through Danny Ings in the 17th minute and despite a lot of huffing and puffing, Spurs haven’t come close to finding an equliser so far.

Some Spurs fans on social media were left extremely frustrated with yet another lackluster first half display:

Our tendency to start games slowly has now become an extremely worrying trend. Despite Mourinho identifying the problem clearly, he has still failed to get the team to start with more intensity. We need to show more urgency in the second half and get the ball to our forwards more quickly.
