Antonio Conte admits he is ‘happy’ and ‘enjoying’ working at Tottenham

Antonio Conte has admitted he is enjoying working at Tottenham Hotspur but once again stopped short of saying that he will be at the club next season.

There has been plenty of speculation over Conte’s future over the last couple of months, with the Italian even being mooted as a potential candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain (Le Parisien).

The 52-year-old has refused to commit his future to Tottenham despite being asked several times, insisting last month that he will have a meeting with the club’s hierarchy at the end of the season to discuss their plans (Football.London).

Conte has now once again decided to keep his cards close to his chest about his future but he did admit that he is enjoying his time in North London and has a good relationship with both Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici.

The Tottenham head coach told Football.London: “You know that first of all we want to finish the season because in this moment, to speak about other situations, it is not right for the environment.

“We need to get this result because it’s vital for everybody – for Tottenham, for the club, for the players, for me, but I repeat I have a really good relationship with Daniel, with Fabio. They know very well that I will try to do everything for the best for the club.

“I enjoyed a lot and I am enjoying a lot to work in this club. Now the most important thing is to try to get this result and then for sure we will find the right solution for everybody, but I repeat – I am happy and I want to say thanks for the opportunity to work with this group of players and with this modern club, with these fans, with this atmosphere.

“It was amazing and for sure make me happy and this is important. If a situation makes me happy, it’s important.”

Conte also reiterated that Harry Kane’s viral infection is not an issue, explaining that another first-team player had the same infection this week but recovered very quickly.

When asked about Kane, he responded: “I don’t like to tell you lies. We had a couple of situations this week with a virus, with a stomach problem but it’s a situation we are going to solve.

“Now there is only Harry Kane’s situation. Only this, during the week we had another player who missed a training session but now he’s available. No worries. We have the same players like the last game available. It was the same like last week with Deki, Hugo and Gollini.”

I do not believe Conte is even considering walking away from Spurs in the summer. His reluctance to commit his future seems to be purely based on not wanting to weaken his bargaining positioning when discussing the summer transfer budget with Levy and Paratici.
