Antonio Conte appears to suggest he has not discussed transfers with Spurs

Antonio Conte has suggested that his transfer meeting with the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy is yet to have taken place.

The transfer window opened on New Year’s Day and is scheduled to run until the end of the month and represents the only chance that clubs have to bolster their ranks before the end of the campaign.

Conte admitted after the narrow 1-0 victory against Watford in their last outing that he has evaluated his squad ahead of dipping into the transfer market (Metro).

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Chelsea, Conte reinforced that he is waiting to tell the club of his opinion on the squad.

Football.London revealed yesterday that Conte has been told that money will be tighter this month due to the club’s activity during the summer and potential outlays on current loan signings.

He told Football.London: “My expectation is to speak with my club and then to tell them my opinion. The club will know after I speak and decision they want to make.”

It seems remarkable that Conte has yet had the opportunity to sit down with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici considering we are already three days into the new window, hopefully, the club will back the Italian with what he wants or it would be disastrous to miss out on the top four yet again.
