Antonio Conte claims his focus is not on transfers at present

Antonio Conte has been speaking to the press ahead of the return to Premier League action this weekend, and responded to questions about Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer activity this month.

With the January transfer window currently open for business the rumour mill is already in full swing and Tottenham have been linked with a range of different players across a variety of different positions.

One area Spurs look likely to work on is at right wing-back, with Antonio Conte reportedly unhappy with his options in that position (90 Min). Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro has been highlighted as Conte’s top target as a potential incoming for the right side of his defence (Evening Standard).

Likewise, the Spurs boss is keen to bring in a new attacker and Brighton’s Leandro Trossard has emerged as a very possible signing for the Lilywhites this month (90 Min). The chances of this move happening have increased after it was reported the player has been isolated by his Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi (Charlie Haffenden).

Conte was asked about potential transfers that may or may not be happening this month, and the Italian wasn’t giving anything away in the press conference.

He told Football.London: “About the transfer market you know me very well that I don’t like to speak a lot. I think in this moment my focus is totally for the team because we have to face important games against Arsenal, then City, the Fulham game and then again the FA Cup.”

“For this moment I am really focused on the pitch, then about the transfer market, I am sure the club are trying to monitor the situation,” he added.

Spurs Web Opinion

Very little to go on from Conte in this respect, but then again he isn’t really the main man to speak to about transfers at the club (that would be Fabio Paratici). Hopefully something is being cooked up as we speak and we get a nice surprise soon.
