Tottenham Hotspur have revealed a significant blow ahead of their north London derby against Arsenal this evening after it was confirmed that Cristian Romero will take no part in the fixture.

Spurs fans were left disappointed when the Argentine’s name was not on the team sheet, with his place in the central defensive back three alongside Ben Davies and Eric Dier having been taken by Davinson Sanchez.

Sanchez is starting his first game for Spurs since the since the 2-0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers three months ago.

Ahead of the match, head coach Antonio Conte has revealed that Romero sustained a hip injury at Anfield during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool and has failed to recover in time for the crunch match in the race for a top four finish in the Premier League.

Romero’s absence is a massive blow to Tottenham, not only because of his defensive capabilities but also in the manner that he likes of break the lines to join in with attacking moves.

Sanchez always has a big error in him, hopefully, tonight isn’t another night with so much on the line.
