Antonio Conte offers his verdict on whether Bryan Gil is set to leave Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has been speaking about Bryan Gil’s future at the club.

Gil was on the bench once again for Tottenham’s 1-0 win against Wolves earlier this afternoon for the third match in a row without taking to the field.

The winger has been linked with a move away from north London during the summer transfer window with The Times claiming yesterday that Valencia are close to sealing a switch for the 21-year-old, but did not disclose whether it would be a loan or permanent deal.

The Spanish international spent the second half of last season on loan at the Mestalla Stadium just a couple of months after Conte took over in north London.

Conte was adamant when fielding questions from the press that if any of his squad were to leave, they must be replaced with a new signing.

He told the post-match press conference as quoted by Charlie Eccleshare on Twitter: “I was very clear during the press conference before the game. The squad is this – if someone goes, someone has to come in.”

With Tottenham looking to compete on four fronts this season and with the World Cup happening in the middle of the season, Conte is making it clear to the club that if they want to offload any players they must be prepared to spend not to leave him short of options.

A loan deal appears the most likely for Gil should it happen, however, expect many of these potential transfers to go down to the wire on deadline day should Spurs identify a better option to bring in.
