Antonio Conte on his belief that Harry Kane is enjoying playing for him

Antonio Conte believes that Harry Kane is enjoying his football at Tottenham Hotspur after helping his side to a 2-0 win against Brighton.

The 28-year-old scored Tottenham’s second goal at the Amex Stadium which saw him net his 95th goal in away fixtures in the Premier League, breaking the record previously set by Wayne Rooney, with Kane taking more than a hundred matches fewer than the former United player to reach the milestone.

Kane has 22 goals for Spurs to his name in all competitions for the season with 15 of those coming following the arrival of Conte (transfermarkt).

Conte claimed that he feels that Kane is beginning to understand that he has the chance to score more goals with the style of football he is demanding from his players.

Kane’s goal also saw him overtake former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard into fifth position on the Premier League’s all-time goalscorers list with 178 goals.

Conte told Football.London: “We are happy, very happy because he is scoring a lot. You know very well that when he started the season he struggled a bit. Now we are very happy because as a manager I know that I have a world class striker that in every game he can score.

“Every single player to have Harry in your team makes you stronger. I think at the same time I think Harry is starting to understand that with this team and with how we’re playing he has many chances to score and improve his record. I think he’s enjoying playing football with us.”

Kane had a difficult first half at Brighton by his own high standards when he lost possession on a few occasions and should have scored when he pulled his shot wide despite having an open goal in front of him.

The second half saw him play two superb raking balls to Sergio Reguilon to create opportunities in front of goal which the Spaniard should have scored at least one.
