Antonio Conte provides injury update on Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon

Antonio Conte provided an injury update on both Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon in his post-match press conference this evening.

Tottenham came from behind to avoid embarrassment and defeat Morecambe 3-1 in North London, booking their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

However, the Lilywhites had to do so without two of their usual fixtures in defence, Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon, both of whom missed out.

Dier was replaced by Joe Rodon in the central sweeper role, while Ryan Sessegnon stepped in to fill Reguilon’s boots at left-wing-back.

Although Conte told the press that Dier missed out against Chelsea due to illness, he has now claimed the England international has picked up a minor injury. However, he added that he hopes it is nothing serious.

Reguilon, meanwhile, who was spotted in the stands at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, was apparently left out because he was tired and Conte preferred not to use him.

Conte said (Football London): “Eric Dier, yeah [an injury], but I hope nothing serious and I hope so about Sergio Reguilon, he was a bit tired and we preferred not to use him.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I fully expect Dier and Rodon to be back in time to face Chelsea and Arsenal. It appears as though Conte left them out more as a precaution than anything else today.
