Antonio Conte provides positive Spurs injury update on Steven Bergwijn

Antonio Conte has now revealed a positive injury update on Steven Bergwijn, just as Heung-min Son has fallen to a frustrating muscle problem.

The Spurs head coach told the media today that Bergwijn is feeling good and improving every single day, adding that Tottenham expect him to return very soon.

Conte even added that it comes even more important to get the Dutchman back out on the pitch with the news that Son may not return to training until the end of January.

Tottenham play Morecambe this weekend in the FA Cup, before facing Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester and Chelsea again in a quarter of tough fixtures.

Bergwijn has struggled with injuries since joining Tottenham and has only managed 13 appearances in all competitions this season.

The winger has missed the last two Premier League matches with a calf injury but it sounds as if he could soon make his return to the line-up under Conte.

He said (Football London): “I spoke with Steven today and his feeling is good. He’s improving day by day, step by step.

“My expectation and the medical dept’s expectation is to come back very soon. We need to help him. Also we had a problem with Son during the game against Chelsea. It will be very important to recover Steven Bergwijn.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

With Son out injured, the return of Bergwijn becomes even more important. I expect him to fight it out with Bryan Gil for a spot on the left side, with Lucas Moura and Harry Kane playing most matches.
