Antonio Conte provides positive update on Hugo Lloris contract situation

According to Dan Kilpatrick, Antonio Conte told the media today that Hugo Lloris is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over his future.

The club captain’s current contract only runs until the summer of 2022, meaning he is about to enter the final six months. At this point, he can talk to foreign clubs about a potential free transfer at the end of the season.

The Frenchman arrived in North London back in 2012 in a transfer from Lyon and has now represented the Lilywhites for ten years, many of them wearing the captain’s armband.

However, Conte has now revealed that Hugo is in talks over a potential new deal and believes the goalkeeper wants to remain in North London.

Conte claimed that Lloris loves the club and he expects him to continue pulling on the Tottenham jersey beyond the current campaign.

He said (Dan Kilpatrick): “I think so, I think Hugo wants to stay in this club. He loves this club. He stays well in Tottenham and this could be his opinion.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is one of the most important pieces of business for Spurs in January – get Hugo tied down to a new two or three-year deal. He is showing no signs of slowing down, so his age shouldn’t be too much of a problem here.
