Tottenham Hotspur may have lost to Chelsea in a woeful display in North London last night, but the match was completely overshadowed by the archaic idiocy of a select few fans.
Allegations have been made that some supporters from the Tottenham end made racist gestures towards Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger (Daily Mail).
The Blues player could be seen reenacting the gestures to his captain Azpilicueta to explain what was happened, and the game was stopped while the referee was notified.
Tottenham then made an announcement over the speakers in the stadium and an investigation into the incident is already underway (Daily Mail).
Rudiger himself dealt with the issue fantastically, keeping his cool on the pitch while making a public point after the match in a social media post. The incident came after Rudiger was involved in the Heung Min Son red card decision.
Rudiger stated that he did not want to involve Spurs as a club, as he is aware it was just the actions of a few. He also thanked numerous Tottenham fans for their supportive messages online.
We at Spurs Web would like to apologise to Rudiger on behalf of Tottenham fans everywhere. These awful people do not represent the club or our fanbase. We stand with you, Antonio.
I don’t want to involve Tottenham as an entire club into this situation as I know that just a couple of idiots were the offenders. I got a lot of supportive messages on social media from Spurs fans as well in the last hours – thank you a lot for this. (2/4)

If not, then there must have been witnesses in the stadium who saw and heard the incident. It’s just such a shame that racism still exists in 2019. When will this nonsense stop? (4/4)
