Richard Keys has claimed that Jose Mourinho would get ‘hammered’ if he was serving up the kind of football that Antonio Conte is at Tottenham.

Spurs were level on points with Manchester City after their first ten games of the season but the North Londoners have since had a major hiccup, falling to two back-to-back defeats against Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Conte would have been hoping for a response from his players against the Magpies after their poor display at Old Trafford but the Tottenham boss did not get what he was looking for, with Eddie Howe’s side becoming the first team to win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.

Newcastle scored twice in the first half and despite the Lilywhites pulling one back through Harry Kane in the 54th minute, they failed to have sustained spells of pressure after the interval.

Keys has not held back on his criticism of Conte following Spurs’ defeat on Sunday, questioning why the Italian has a reputation for being a tactical genius.

Here’s what the beIN SPORTS presented tweeted:

Spurs Web Opinion

The reality is that Conte and Spurs were criticised for their style of play, even when they were picking up wins. So, I do not think it is the case of the Italian being treated with kid gloves. As with Jose, the criticism was always going to grow louder if Tottenham stopped picking up results.
